Lotto Texas 6/54 Replaces Texas Bonus Ball on April 26, 2006.
The Texas Lottery Commission finally admitted defeat and killed the unpopular Texas Bonus Ball game.
The detested 5/44 + 1/44 game was replaced by the old pick-6 Lotto Texas 6/54 that had been abandoned
in 2003.
Texas lottery officials had the misconception that lottery players wanted only jackpot-driven games.
As big as Texas is, it could not support both Mega Millions and a statewide Powerball wannabe.
Lotto Texas 6/54 has jackpot odds of one in 25.8 million whereas Texas Bonus Ball had jackpot odds
of one in 47.8 million.
Lotto Texas 6/54 ran from July 19, 2000 to May 3, 2003 and had 192 drawings. We will resurrect
those drawings in our Advantage Plus software so that Texans will have immediate history to work with.
Now, if only they would go back to their original 6/50 game format, Texans would have an even better
chance of winning lotto prizes!
Win for Life 6/42 Replaces Lotto South 6/49 in Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia
Win for Life 6/42 replaced Lotto South 6/49 on March 1, 2006. When state lotteries change the
game format, they usually increase the odds against the player. In this case, not only were
the odds reduced with the new game, but the prize distribution was also changed – to the
benefit of the player. Odds of winning the Win for Life 6/42 jackpot are one in 5,245,786,
down from one in 13,983,816 in the old Lotto South 6/49 game.
After the six winning numbers are drawn, an additional bonus number, the Free Ball, is drawn
from the same ball set to award more prizes. Any two, three, four or five winning numbers plus
the Free Ball wins; as do three, four, five or six winning numbers without the Free Ball. All
together, there are eight prize categories. Get all six winning numbers and you win $1,000 a
week for life. Tickets cost $1 a play. Drawings are held twice a week, on Wednesdays and
Saturdays. I predict this will be a very popular game because there are so many chances to win
and the odds are pretty good for a pick-6 lotto game.

Bingo is NOT a Lotto Game
After more than 1500 drawings, on October 12, 2005, the Ohio Lottery terminated Super
Lotto Plus 6/49, one of the State's best games, and replaced it with a Bingo-type
game called Lot O Play. Sorry, but it is not possible to wheel a Bingo game,
and we have no credible system for picking "Bingo" numbers.

How to Set Up the Smart Luck
Advantage Plus History File
for MEGA Millions 5/56 + 1/46
Tickets are on sale for the new MEGA Millions 5/56 + 1/46. The first drawing of the new MEGA Millions game, which now includes CALIFORNIA (and eleven other states), takes place on June 24, 2005.
If you own Gail Howard's Advantage Plus number selection software, you can follow some simple steps, and with a few keystrokes you can set up a history file to enter the drawings for the new MEGA Millions game.
However, after June 27th, 2005, our free Updater will automatically include the new history file for the new 5/56 + 1/46 MEGA Millions game. (After you click on the UPDATER, click
SETUP, click CLEAR, click ALL-USA, click OK, click DOWNLOAD.)
To download the UPDATER for the first time, click HELP on the Home Page, then click FREE
UPDATER and follow the simple directions.
If you want to set up your own new MEGA Millions 5/56 + 1/46 history
file, you can follow these instructions:
How to set up a new Lotto game:
Choose
1 from Advantage Plus Main Menu. Press
F4-Add and:
- the name of the file, MM0556a,
and press ENTER. (Note: adding
the letter a to
the base name will ensure that your file will not be overwritten by
ours when you download from our web site).
- the name of the Lottery, MEGA Millions 5/56
and press ENTER;
- the draw size, 5, and press
ENTER;
- bonus numbers, 1, and press
ENTER;
- the bet size, 5, and press
ENTER;
- type Y to select
auto-sorting of drawings and press ENTER;
- 00 is not a valid number so press ENTER to
keep this setting at NO;
- Ballsets/rotations are NOT used so press
ENTER
to keep this setting at NONE;
- the date of the first drawing in 6 digits (mmddyy),
062405 and press ENTER;
- the size of the number pool for the game, ex:
56 and press F3-Save
- press ENTER to select the newly created file;
- press 2 from Main Menu and enter the 1st drawing for the new file.
To be consistent and to try to please everyone, we will be using the extended file with the past 5/52 range drawings included but with the old drawings turned off. Those who want to include that history temporarily or permanently can do so quickly by using the F3-Range key from any chart.
You can modify your old 5/52 game to accept the 5/56 drawings by following these instructions:
Modifying a lotto game
when more numbers are added:
You can modify the old game in just a few seconds: From Advantage Plus main menu,
press 1
and highlight the existing lottery file. Press
F3-Modify, and press the down arrow until
the light bar will not go any farther. This should be under the Starting Draw Date
column. Type in the date of the first drawing of the new game as six digits
mmddyy ex. 062405
and press ENTER,
then type in the new game size and press
F3-Save&Exit.
If more than 4 numbers are added, it is usually better to start a new file.
By pressing Alt-B, you can see all the charts for the five white balls; or
see all the charts for the Gold Mega Ball by itself. Or see all the charts for
all six balls together (which I do not recommend).
As soon as the first drawing occurs you can
turn off the older drawings so they do not appear in any charts while keeping
them in the file for reference as desired.
